Free Love started as a lo-fi band on the 1st of December 2002 in Ipoh, a small laid-back old town in Northwest Malaysia. Free Love originally began as a side-project band formed by Jay, Jay at that time was going through a hard time with his previous band that he played bass for, Bloodymary.

They classify their music as indie rock, lo-fi, noise pop, buzz pop, power pop, experimental, rock n' roll and whatever you want to call it. As long as you can dance and sing along with it.

For them, indie rock is about being who you are. Play what you want to play, as loud or as mellow as fuck, simple or sophisticated, sloppy or clean, fast or slow and do whatever you want to fucking do with yr songs. That's indie rock!
